Ochs Garden Promise
I promise to...
Complete my gardening chores by set time.
Always wear closed-toe shoes.
Maintain my own garden by weeding, fertilizing and harvesting.
Work in my project book, in order to keep a record of what I learn.
Never take anything from some else's garden plot without the owner's O.K.
Always try to conserve water by using the rain barrels and watering cans.
Clean each tool and return it after use.
Pay attention to the classes offered.
Conduct myself in a proper way, being safe and respectful.
Never waste anything grown on the property.
Ask permission before taking tools, fertilizers, seeds, or exploring the citrus grove.
Remember I am here to garden, learn, and have fun, not just to play.

Ochs Garden Rules
The garden is open Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3pm until 5pm.
All gardening must be completed by 5:00.
The garden is also open the first Saturday from 9am until 11am.
All members of the family will wear closed-toed shoes.
(No bare feet, no sandals, no exceptions)
4-H'ers and Master Gardeners are required to maintain their own gardens by weeding, fertilizing, and harvesting. Parents can assist if needed.
Paths on all sides of the garden plots need to be kept clean of weeds and overgrowth.
Children will become members of the Ochs Garden 4-H Club and complete a project book, record book, demonstration, and exhibit, if not already a club member.
Gardeners can only harvest their own gardens. Please harvest your crop when it is ready. Rotting vegetables attract insects and disease.
Bring clippings to the Compost Corral and weeds to the field.
Please choose from our selection of seeds and plants; refrain from bringing in outside plants.
Exercise courtesy when hand watering with the garden hoses. Keep in mind that other members want to water their gardens too. Conserve water and use the rain barrels and watering cans.
Please clean and return all tools to the shed after use.
Children, parents, and Master Gardeners must agree to clean out their beds at the end of the growing season. Members who fail to clean out their garden will jeopardize their garden access for the next season.
All family members must conduct themselves in a safe, orderly manner.
The Ochs 4-H Educational Center is a place of learning, not a play area. All garden chores will be completed before play is allowed.
Ask permission from a Master Gardener or staff before obtaining knives, pruners, extra seeds, fertilizing, or venturing into the citrus grove.
Parents and/or legal guardians are responsible for the discipline and conduct of their children.
